UPDATE: Fort Lauderdale Police issued this statement to BocaNewsNow.com around 11 a.m on Tuesday:

ORIGINAL 12.15.23: This evening, FLPD’s Rapid Offender Control Unit was working a joint investigation with Miami PD when suspects from an armed robbery fired shots at one of our officers, striking his vehicle multiple times. The officer was not injured and did not return fire. FLPD remains on scene to assist Miami PD in searching for the suspects responsible. Please contact Miami PD for any additional information as they are the lead investigating agency.

UPDATE 12.16.23: This morning, FLPD Rapid Offender Control (ROC) units observed a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle involved in last night’s shooting in Miami. The vehicle was ultimately stopped on the Turnpike near Glades Road and one person is in custody. This remains an ongoing investigation and that’s all the information we can release as this time.”

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Fort Lauderdale Police Department, responsible for the arrest of an alleged murder suspect in Boca Raton on Saturday, is saying nothing about alleged crime or the arrest.

Law enforcement agencies from multiple jurisdictions told BocaNewsNow.com that the high-profile arrest on the Florida Turnpike, near Glades Road around 11 a.m. Saturday, as ultimately overseen by Fort Lauderdale PD. The City of Fort Lauderdale Police public information office did not respond to two requests for information made after the event and late Monday afternoon.

As we reported in realtime on Saturday, police apparently chased a vehicle into West Boca Raton on the Turnpike. The chase ended in the area of Glades Road where Florida Highway Patrol and a Broward Sheriff’s Office Deputy executed an arrest. Multiple unmarked cars were also on the scene — it was unclear if those vehicles were Fort Lauderdale officers.
