DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Troubled West Delray Beach restaurant Ocean One is apparently closed forever. The restaurant, in the shopping center known as “Delray Marketplace,” ceased operations within the past day according to employees reaching out to BocaNewsNow.com.

The phone number for the Delray Beach location was disconnected when BocaNewsNow.com called Wednesday. We obtained what is said to be a message sent to all employees by a now former manager. Here is the text of that message (which we have cleaned up a little bit):

“I just got called and was delivered this news. It’s unfortunate that I have to send this message but we are closing this location as of today. Yesterday was the last day this location is going to be operational due to the sales. The projection of sales is nowhere near it was supposed to be by now. There is no money being made. Everyone has worked extremely hard these past couple months and even years for the people who have been with me there since almost the beginning. I am sure they are going to be reaching out to me any minute in regards to tips owed, checks, etc. As of now, I don’t know anything.”

Ocean One had a series of missteps and was considered a nuisance by other vendors who, from time to time, reached out to BocaNewsNow.com about the noise and customer base at the restaurant. Loud music often blasted from Ocean One. The restaurant itself expanded recently to take over sidewalks, blocking shoppers in Delray Marketplace from using those sidewalks — instead forcing them into the street.

Ocean One was temporarily closed by a health inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation in April of 2021. An inspector logged twelve violations during a routine visit in October. One location apparently remains open in Las Vegas.
