DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Traffic is at a standstill on I-95 northbound in the area of Atlantic Avenue.
Motorists tell BocaNewsNow.com that multiple crashes in the area are being handled by Delray Fire and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue professionals. It was not immediately clear how many people — if any — were injured.
At least one crash was visible on traffic cams as of 1:30 p.m.

Traffic is backed up for what appears to be several miles. Anyone heading north is urged to either use the Florida Turnpike, or find other north-south roads (like Military Trail or Jog Road) to bypass the crash scenes, then return to I-95 in the area of Boynton Beach Blvd.
What a shock. I have lived all over the US and have never seen such horrible drivers as those in Florida. Recklessly fast, passing in the right lane, inability to use turn signals and, most importantly, they often lose control and hit traffic medians when they see a raindrop.
I totally agree. Perhaps if there were a stronger police presence, drivers wouldn’t feel so free to flout the law. How about it Governor?
Not only is speeding drivers a problem on I-95 in Delray Beach there are MAJOR road design flaws, coupled with poor FHP enforcement.
Deadly accidents occurs at the same location constantly. On I-95 North just past Atlantic Ave exit, the far right lane ends without any overhead signage or warning. Drivers must suddenly and un-expectantly merge left. The same at I-95 South at Congress, the right lane ends with out ample signage and warning….I live here and know what to expect and avoid, for drivers unfamiliar with the area it creates a soon to happen accident.
I moved hear from So. California and have never seen such awful highway designs. Hello, FDOT there are simple solution, that would save someone’s life.!! In California, there are large overhead warning signs “LANE ENDS 1/2 MILE MERGE LEFT” with an down arrow. Then the next warning overhead signs reads, “LANE ENDS MERGE LEFT”, together with painted arrows in the lane surface and double thick white lane demarcations are clear indication/warning which are ending lanes and exit only lanes.
Secondly, California restricts commercial vehicle traffic. The lanes available to larger vehicles will depend on the total number of lanes in the highway. If there are three or fewer lanes traveling in each direction (excluding carpool lanes), trucks must only use the far right lane. Or, if there are four or more lanes in each direction, trucks can ONLY use the two right-hand lanes. *** In Florida’s the only restriction is “NO TRUCKS LEFT LANE”. It’s Extremely dangerous on I-95 in Broward and Palm Beach counties as these semi-trucks travelling at high speeds are allowed to traverse across four lanes of traffic, that should be restricted the only the two right lanes! I was nearly killed being sandwich between two semi-trucks.
FDOT address the areas on I95 in Palm Beach county where multiple accidents are occurring frequently.
