BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton man had quite a holiday greeting for the Lantana cop who stopped him early in the morning on New Year’s Day. It seems an officer was concerned that Carlos Schnabel of Boca Raton was driving a silver Mercedes with two flat tires on Dixie Highway around 4:15 in the morning. The officer stopped Schnabel, walked to the door of his car, and was greeted with: ”Dios Mios!” Translation: “My God!”

Apparently unsure if the “My God” was in reference to the traffic stop, driving a Mercedes on just two wheels, or something else, the officer then asked Schnabel if he had been drinking. That led Schnabel to respond with: “Happy New Years!” and various versions of, “I need to pee!” Schnabel then spoke a mix of English and Spanish, but later revealed to police that could speak English with no problem at all.

Schnabel, according to the police report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, was given multiple field sobriety tests which he had problems completing. He was taken into custody and given a blood alcohol test. The results: .219 and .216. That’s nearly three times the legal limit of .08.

Carlos Schnabel of the 10000 block of Akenside Drive in Boca Raton was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on one count of DUI. He was later released on his own recognizance pending a hearing.
