DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Delray Beach woman allegedly stabbed her live-in boyfriend who fled the scene in his car, then drove himself to Delray Medical Center. Kathryne Horton is now facing a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

According to a police report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, Delray Beach Police were called to Horton’s home in the 3900 block of NW 7th Court in Delray Beach in the early hours of January 8th, 2024. Police say Horton was waiting for them in her garage, and told police that her boyfriend had left the scene and was bleeding.

While another officer located Horton, initiated a traffic stop, and determined he was okay to drive himself to Delray Medical Center, Horton told cops that she was the victim of violence. She claimed her boyfriend put her in a “rear naked choke hold” which she feared would be fatal. She, according to the report, grabbed a box cutter and stabbed him to stop the choke hold.

But the boyfriend told police a different story. He claimed that he was trying to sleep when Horton came into the room and started yelling at him. He sat up, looked at the doorway, and realized Horton had a boxcutter in her hand. He tried to avoid being cut so grabbed her wrists. While trying to protect himself and defuse the situation, the boyfriend says he was sliced by Horton. He sustained three to four inch cut on the ulnar side of his right forearm.

“As a result of my investigation,” wrote the officer, “I found Horton to be the primary aggressor.”

Horton was taken into custody and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. She was later released $3,000 bond.
