BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton man with an American Express card in his name and the name of “Hulk Construction” allegedly owes the bank $64,854. Amex is now suing to recover the funds apparently unpaid by Ed Maslanka on his Platinum card.

American Express, filing suit in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, says Maslanka has owed the money since October. It appears no payment has been made since before that date. From the suit:

“Plaintiff, AMERICAN EXPRESS NATIONAL BANK, readopts and realleges the Jurisdictional and Parties allegations of this Complaint. Before the institution of this action, the Plaintiff, AMERICAN EXPRESS NATIONAL BANK, and the Defendants, ED MASLANKA and HULK CONSTRUCTION, ROOFING & SOLAR INC aka Hulk Construction, jointly and severally, had business transactions between them and on October 15, 2023, and they agreed to the resulting balance.

Plaintiff, AMERICAN EXPRESS NATIONAL BANK, rendered a statement to the Defendants, ED MASLANKA and HULK CONSTRUCTION, ROOFING & SOLAR INC aka Hulk Construction, jointly and severally, a copy being attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit “B” and the Defendants, ED MASLANKA and HULK CONSTRUCTION, ROOFING & SOLAR INC aka Hulk Construction, jointly and severally, did not object to the statement.

Defendants, ED MASLANKA and HULK CONSTRUCTION, ROOFING & SOLAR INC aka Hulk Construction, jointly and severally, owe Plaintiff, AMERICAN EXPRESS NATIONAL BANK, $64,854.28, that is due since October 15, 2023 on this account.”

American Express alleges that Maslanka owed $49,483.02 before the October statement, then added $13,686 in new charges. Unpaid, Amex shut off the card and filed suit.
