PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Palm Beach County man is suing RaceTrac over bad gas that allegedly destroyed his Land Rover.

According to the suit just filed in Palm Beach County Small Claims Court, David Gaspari of Jupiter filled up his Land Rover with gasoline from RaceTrac in Florida City. A short time later, his Land Rover died. At the start of the July 4th holiday weekend near the Keys, Gaspari had few options. While his vehicle was towed back to his home of Jupiter — at the cost of nearly $1000 — he spent the night at the Amara Cay resort in Islamorada.

A Land Rover expert diagnosed the cause of the Land Rover problem to be bad gas which had to be removed. The vehicle’s battery had to be replaced…and so did a spark plug. The cost: $1,664. The total cost for hotel, towing, hotel room, food, and getting back to Jupiter from Islamorada: $4,638.24.

The Florida Department of Agriculture attempted to help Mr. Gaspari but RaceTrac apparently refused to respond to the agency. RaceTrac also refused to reimburse Gaspari. Bad news for RaceTrac: Gaspari is an attorney. He is now suing.

RaceTrac has not responded to the suit as of early Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024. Read the complete complaint, below.
