BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Zaka Japanese Restaurant, which just underwent a major renovation, is mysteriously closed. A handwritten sign is announcing the closure on the door. It’s unclear why the restaurant is closed, for how long it will be closed, or whether it will reopen.
The restaurant, at 9858 Clint Moore Road near the Clint Moore and U.S. 441 intersection, is in the midst of a lawsuit against a former employee. We covered that suit here. It pits the restaurant against a Hibachi Chef who apparently bolted the restaurant. Here’s part of what we reported in May:
“The Zaka Japanese Restaurant located at 9858 Clint Moore Road had to close its Hibachi section, according to the court filing, when the Hibachi Chef walked off the job. There’s a shortage of Hibachi chefs — claims an attorney for the restaurant — and there was no way to replace Chef Thanh M. Huang. The restaurant is suing Huang, claiming: “Hoang, as a hibachi chef, possessed at least two fiduciary duties to Zaka, including: Duty of loyalty, which obligated Hoang, as the fiduciary, to put the interests of Zaka, as the beneficiary, first, and ahead of the fiduciary’s self-interest, and to refrain from exploiting the relationship for the fiduciary’s personal benefit.”
There is no record of a poor health inspection for Zaka, and there is no pending litigation against the restaurant. We’ll update if we hear from the restaurant.
