Boca Raton Delray Beach Florida News Palm Beach County

It’s Boca Rudeton For Saturday. Why Do You Need A Dog In A Pizza Place?

%%
Why did this woman and her dining companion bring this dog to Pizza Sophia in Delray Beach? It was seen under the table in the restaurant.

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Another day, another rude South Palm Beach County person bringing a pet where it doesn’t belong. This time, it’s Pizza Sophia at 15065 State Road 7 in Delray Beach. Our tipster appropriately asks why this woman and her dining companion are eating dinner with a dog. It’s a good question.

Animals are not legal inside of restaurants. It’s fine to eat on a patio with your pooch, but not inside. Our tipster asked the restaurant to intervene but apparently wouldn’t. It’s unclear if the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation was contacted concerning the animal violation. Our tipster nominated this woman for Boca Rudeton. We couldn’t agree more.

Lady eating with your tiny pooch perched under your table: you are today’s Boca Rudeton winner. Congratulations. While we do not give prizes, we know what we would send if we did. It’s, of course, the 80’s hit by Rockwell, “Somebody’s Watching Me.” Lots of Somebodies are watching you — and everyone who brings dogs into places where they do not belong in South Palm Beach County.

We remind our readers that there is no expectation of privacy in a public place. Don’t want to be seen here? Don’t be rude here! Send your submissions to us using the menu buttons, above. Share your thoughts on Pizza Pooch, below. Boca Rudeton™ is a trademark of Metro Desk Media, LLC. Restaurant-goers who just can’t leave their animal at home is a trademark of South Palm Beach County.

Way too many think they are “entitled” to do and act as they see fit….for themselves, and damn the generl population. Shame on the restaurant – Pizza Sophia – for allowing this or not taking care of the situation immediately. I hope the public takes note, and maybe there’ll be some form of boycott until the restaurant gets their act together.

WHO CARES????? I allow you to sit with your screaming infants and toddlers running around picking their noses! At least the dog is quietly laying down and behaving! I cannot understand WHAT is the uproar?? These are clean, well-behaved dogs. Who are you people that have NO tolerance! We have much bigger issues at hand!

Aileen, children are humans. Dogs are animals and not permitted by law into these establishments unless they are trained service animals that provide a legitimate service, not a faux emotional support animal or just a pet. There’s a difference.

I for one, am happy people are sending in the photos. IT WOULD BE BETTER IF THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH WOULD TAKE CARE OF THESE ISSUES. I’M SICK AND TIRED OF PEOPLE PUSHING THEIR PETS ON OTHERS. Your comment about the world and petty things. This is not petty. It is ignorant and rude to think that in a public restaurant everyone is ok with You bringing your animal. WRONG!!!!!!!!! It is NOT YOUR RESTAURANT. PEOPLE HAVE ALLERGIES, I FOR ONE GET SHOTS, MANY OTHERS ARE ALLERGIC AND HAVE ASTHMA. I KNOW MANY WHO ARE UPSET. SO JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN’T LEAVE YOUR DOG HOME FOR AN HOUR TO DINE OUT, YOU WANT TO INFLICT THIS ON EVERYONE. STAY HOME AND ORDER TAKE OUT. STOP, YOU ARE SELFISH AND FEEL ENTITLED.

It has nothing to do with what other things people might have to do.
It has to do with complying with the law.
We are not allowed to break laws that have been lawfully passed.
Do you want to live in a ‘wild west’ environment?
Would you be happy if this dog did his business on the walkway to your home?
My solution to a situation like this;;if one is offended just get up and leave the restaurant without paying or tell your server that it is what you will do or call the police.Or keep taking pictures.

I’m the owner of Pizzeria Sophia.
The dog had a service animal tag. It is illegal for me to refuse service animals. I’m very aware these tags can be purchased on the internet. I do not wish to question the honesty & integrity of my customers.
For the record I prefer to not have animals inside restaurants.

Wrong. A service dog is allowed inside per the Americans With Disabilities Act. How shameful that this site continues to publish things like this without knowing — or attempting to know — all the facts. Also, your lawyers are wrong about the no privacy right in a public place. It’s more complicated than that as these people are not public figures and you are showing their faces. Perhaps one day you will find this out when you are on the wrong end of a franchise-ending lawsuit. for the record, people diagnosed with certain conditions like PTSD are entitled to service animals. So just because you can’t see their disability don’t assume they dont have one.

  10. Jeffrey W Avatar

    Dear business owner-
ADA allows for two questions to be asked: (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform?
No documentation or proof of certification can be required by businesses.
However, were these questions asked by you or your staff??

To all those entitled persons supporting taking dogs into restaurants bedamned about those allergic, fearful, immune-compromised, risks from other dogs the LAW, that equivalizes children with runny noses to be same as dogs (without runny noses), making comment too much more important things to worry about… I ask….how many parents have u helped with their children, offering a napkin for nose cleanup or is that your quiet time to contemplate all the work YOU will be doing to solve all the worlds problems. FOR ALL THE PEOPLE REMINDING OTHERS, ask what she just did in that time frame o make world or area a better community. And to be specific. Likely, nothing but feeling entitled to break the law and planning how she would do that. Perhaps she should add thoughts on how to explain getting a 2nd degree misdemeanor charge and ticket. Much more worthwhile and relevent.
