Explosion At Catering Warehouse In Delray Beach Injures Three

UPDATE From Delray Beach Fire Rescue:

Today at  2:30 p.m., DBFR responded to a reported propane explosion at a commercial kitchen in the 2800 block of S. Congress Ave. It appears workers were lighting some gas appliances, when the explosion occurred.

DBFR transported one person to a local hospital, and two other workers were taken to the hospital prior to our arrival. There was no major fire damage.

Delray Beach Fire Rescue, along with the State Fire Marshal, is actively investigating the incident.

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An explosion at a warehouse on Congress in Delray Beach sent three people to area hospitals. It happened just after 2 p.m. Sunday. An investigation is now under way.

The address, 2875 South Congress Avenue Suite A, is listed as a catering company. Sources tell BocaNewsNow.com that employees said they believe a “pilot” was left on in the warehouse. When something sparked in the facility, there was an explosion.

Two people suffered “significant” burns and were transported to area hospitals. A third person apparently sustained burns to her foot and also is seeking medical attention.

No other injuries were immediately reported. There is no fire as of 3 p.m., but firefighters are working to determine the source of the explosion and to ensure the no other people are in the warehouse.
