PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A major fire is burning on a farm in the Acreage. While quite a distance from south Palm Beach County, we are receiving questions about a smoke smell in the air. More likely than not it is this fire that continues to burn.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue says it’s unclear at this point just how big the fire is. It’s off Browns Farm Road.
“The brush fire is hard to estimate size due to the density of the smoke,” says fire officials. “It is under 1 square mile. There is one non-residential structure that is nearby, but has not been affected yet. There is a canal on the eastern edge of the fire that is being used as a fire-break.”
Strong winds are pushing the smoke from the fire to the east. Anyone with respiratory issues is urged to plan accordingly — and consider masking up over the next several hours if planning to be outside.
