Boca Rudeton Nominations For Thursday.

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — There are clearly some troubled people in the world — at least that’s what BocaNewsNow.com readers continue to think about those among us who believe it’s okay to bring a dog where it’s not okay to bring a dog.

%%
Why does this woman have a dog at a performance at the Delray Beach Playhouse?

We start at a show at the Delray Beach Playhouse. Let’s write that again. We start with a SHOW at the Delray Beach Playhouse. That’s where the woman seen above apparently felt it necessary to bring her dog to the show. We don’t know if the dog was ticketed, but we do know that dogs are not supposed to be at performances. Performers work hard to learn lines, to sing, to put on a good production. They don’t need cell phones ringing, and they certainly don’t need dogs barking or defecating. We don’t believe Delray Beach Playhouse has an animal show currently running, so we fully accept the nomination of this woman as our Boca Rudeton winner of the day.

Dogs don’t belong in restaurants in Florida. It violates Florida law. So we don’t know why this dog was sitting at a booth in Lindburgers Delray Beach.

But we also accept the nomination of the couple eating at Lindburgers Delray Beach. It would seem the dog in the restaurant is a violation of Florida and federal law. You can’t have dogs in an indoor location where food is sold or served. This is why Publix and Joseph’s Market have erected signs and continue to stop shoppers from bringing four-legged friends. But this Lindburgers violation seems to be egregious. People sit in these booths — they’re not made for animals. And legitimate customers have no reason to believe that they’re sitting where a dog just slobbered or did something else.

Just like our reader, we don’t understand why this dog was permitted in the restaurant, and why restaurant staff didn’t kick the couple out. We don’t know if the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation has logged a complaint.

The choices today are great. We give a nod to both nominees. But we think the woman with the dog at Delray Beach Playhouse wins. You just don’t bring a pet to a show, unless it’s a dog show, which it wasn’t.

Lady with dog at the Delray Beach Playhouse, you’re our winner! You would receive a copy of the book “Animal Farm” if we actually gave out prizes, which we don’t. We believe you and your runner-up nominees are prizes in and of yourselves.

  1. Dogs sitting and shedding on seats and benches in the Boca Raton Mall should not be allowed. And people who put shoes on seats should also be reprimanded by Security. Who knows where that footwear has been?

    1. Ros, dogs in places they aren’t supposed to be and the bottom of people’s feet are two different subjects. Let’s talk apples to apples here…your post makes no sense, no sense at all!

  2. Once again, people need to be constantly reminded that we have “laws” in Florida prohibiting such actions. People eating at Lindbergers, please be aware that children sit in those booths. Please beaware that some children have such severe allergies to DOG that they can have an asthma attack. Please leave your name and number next time so I can have you pay the hospital bill. RUDE and INCONSIDERATE . DISPICABLE and PATHETIC.

  3. I would rather be a well-behaved dog anywhere than a screaming child. Interesting that I have sent in pictures of children sitting at bars which is illegal, but this column doesn’t post that.

    1. Heather, the topic here is about dogs being where they are not allowed…what part of the topic don’t you understand here? Children at a bar or a screaming child are just not what the subject here is about. But, think you know that and just felt like posting something, anything, even if it is not relevant to the subject at hand. Do agree about children at a bar though but again, that’s for another discussion.

    2. It is NOT illegal for children to sit at a bar. Get your facts straight, moron. And I will take a child over a dirty, disgusting, disease-carrying dog in a restaurant anyday !

    3. Hear, hear. These people are so narrow minded, one sided, dog haters, particularly Andrew Colton. He won’t post any other point of views. I say from now on, lets ignore him and his silly rag paper.

I AM JOINING Mike Burk in this post as it is 100% TRUE AND NEEDS TO GO VIRAL !!!!
MOST DO NOT DESERVE THE SELFLESS LOVE AND LOYALTY A DOG GIVES!!!!!!
I can’t take her to the beach for a walk because it bothers you on your vacation, you don’t allow me to rent a house if I have a dog, nor can I put it on urban public transport.
However, I can take her to the rubble to look for you after an earthquake, in the forest after you got lost in the mountain and you had no map or GPS; under the snow, because you did a forbidden off-piste; in the water, because despite the red flag, you went swimming when the posted signs said not to. You welcome her when you need her but not when it’s not convenient for you. After all….”it is just a dog”….
Think again people. Dogs are better than most humans, they’re kinder, more loyal, love unconditionally and they appreciate you no matter whether you deserve it or not.

  4. Dining at Carabbas Feb.13th with another couple. In walks man with small white dog and his other companions. Gets seated right behind me. I’m highly allergic to dogs. We call over gentleman acting like he’s in authority and voice our disdain. He replies that the Manager allows dogs. They were seated in another srea after complaint. Just not sanitary or healthy.

    1. I LOVE dogs and cats. But bringing a dog into a restaurant is already bad enough, but to then have the gall to let the dog sit in the booth where other patrons will be sitting after they leave is disgusting, inconsiderate and rude. Order “take-outs” and eat outside with your pet. Only bonafide service dogs should be permitted in restaurants.

      1. Has anyone seen the commercials where dogs drive cars and what have you. Feel that some dog owner ( I have two Yorkkies) truly think they are humans!!
This is epidemic and tolerance has its limits. It shouldn’t take Boca news (horay to you for doing so) to point out restaurants, retailers etc…they should be the ones protecting the public. But again just like the lady in that short at the airport the laissez faire seems to be in all conducts and logic is non existent.

    2. You think the dog really wants to see the show at Delray Playhouse? And what self respecting dog wants to be wedged into the hard wooden booths at Lindburgers? Clearly these dogs are being mistreated by the people who are supposed to care for them.

    3. I support BocaNews’ mission to enforce the law, but how exactly do we know that these dogs AREN’T service animals? Even restaurant and supermarket employees are only allowed to ask whether it’s a service animal and what service the dog performs.

So, sorry to say, these photos, taken by other customers, with no additional information, are meaningless, in my opinion.

      1. We ALL know that people have been abusing the concept of a service animal for more than 10 years. From what I understand, you can buy a service animal card and a service animal best on Amazon. These people are trying to game the system and punishing those people who truly need service animals. Even if it was a service animal, having it sit at a bench in a restaurant is beyond unacceptable.

I’ve had dogs for more than 30 years, but I know that they do not belong indoors at a restaurant or other locations.

      2. Bruce,
Working in the medical field for over 40 years a service dog will have a specific harness on with an identity. Florida law says it’s a violation to bring a pet in where food is being served or sold. We as people of Boca need to speak up to those who are violating the law in a kind manner. People can catch many diseases from pets who are sitting in a restaurant, such as Ringworm is highly contagious from a pet to a child or an adult. My child already experienced this once pet owners need to understand this and keep them out side at the places where food is served outside and pets are allowed on the ground again I say pets are allowed on the ground not up in public chairs.

    4. Bruce, why don’t you look up the definition of a service animal. It’s a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability. Trust me, since I was in the Delray Beach Playhouse and saw this woman, this woman had no disability. Just cheating the system.

    5. Oh, wow! Look at this masterpiece of an article written by just one woman. (It must have been a woman…)
Clearly, she must be a genius to come up with such insightful complaints. I mean, who needs dogs that don’t bark and bother anyone when we can have these wonderful people who talk loudly during performances and show no respect for the performers? And let’s not forget the delightful audience members who can’t wait to leave early and rush to their cars. While actors are still on the stage..Truly, a world full of priorities. And why not let people into the show without tickets or with expired ones as a courtesy, just because they are rude to the front desk people and raise their voice on them, but charge the dog? Absolutely brilliant! How lucky we are to have such a frustrated person who has nothing better to do than write such a tasteless article. If that’s not the joy of living in the century of acceptance..

      1. Hope, your comment made no sense! Have no idea what you’re trying to say here. This article is about entitled folks and the way they act with their dogs. I think anyone reading the article would understand this. Maybe you should have someone read you the whole article again and explain it to you.
In the future, might want to post something relative when complaining about something & best to stay on topic.

    6. Enough with the dogs. Reporting on it ad nauseum will not get you the Pulitzer Prize in Journalism. Most dogs are cleaner than many people. Have yet to hear of a person dying after coming in contact with dog hair. I do not bring my dog in public, but I do not object to it either. It’s a little strange to me when I see someone in Publix or the mall with a dog, but their loneliness and lack of attention that probably compels them. Let sleeping dogs lie.

      1. Dan, until folks “get it”, these kind of articles need to be written. In America, we don’t get to obey the laws we like and disobey the ones we don’t, that’s not how things work. Guess you missed that part about the way government works back in school. And the cleanliness of people is not the subject here, so best to compare apples to apples going forward.
As a dog owner of multiple breeds when I was younger, I love dogs but, dogs are not humans and do not belong everywhere a human goes. These folks shown in these articles need to understand once & for all that they just can’t bring their pooches anywhere they like unless it’s a true service dog. But think you already know this stuff. It’s quite simple folks, obey the law and you won’t have a problem!!
