PARKLAND, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Parkland, Florida woman allegedly owes American Express a significant amount of cash, and the bank is now suing to get what it can.
Amy Maharam of Meridian Drive in Parkland is allegedly sitting with a balance of $73,760 on her Amex Platinum card. The problem: she hasn’t paid her bills since March of 2023. That’s long enough for American Express to file suit in Palm Beach County Circuit Court.
The bill has a minimum payment of $38,648. It’s racking up monthly fees of $547 a month. She has the card co-listed with the name “First Class Staffing.” That company is also listed as a defendant in the suit.
If she were to only pay the minimum due, it would take 32 years to pay off the bill — according to the final statement to Maharam issued a year ago. She would end up paying $112,320. Amex is represented by the Sunrise law firm of Modlin Slinksy, P.A.
