What started as an investigation by the Lighthouse Point police department is now being handled by the Broward Sheriff’s Office which provided BocaNewsNow.com with the following narrative:
“At the request of the Lighthouse Point Police Department, the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal crash involving a car and a motorcycle that took place in January in Lighthouse Point.
According to investigators, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, Lighthouse Point Police responded to a report of a traffic crash with injuries in the 4400 block of North Federal Highway. The preliminary on-scene investigation revealed that the driver of a 2020 Porsche Carrera, Matthew Reynolds, was traveling northbound on North Federal Highway north of 44th Street within the center thru lane. The driver of a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle, Francis Lionel Fox, was also traveling northbound on North Federal Highway. Fox was in the inside thru lane.
As Reynolds attempted to move into the inside thru lane, the rear driver’s side of the Carrera impacted the side of the motorcycle. The impact caused Fox to lose control and fall to the roadway. Lighthouse Point Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported Fox to Broward Health Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. On Jan. 30, Fox died from injuries sustained in the crash.
On Monday, Feb. 12, Lighthouse Point Police contacted BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit requesting BSO investigate the circumstances of the fatal crash.”
