BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton man is accused of strangling another man at the United States Post Office at 8185 Via Ancho Road. Bradley Kirks of Via D Oro in Boca Raton is now facing a felony battery charge. BocaNewsNow.com obtained the police report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office detailing the arrest.

“On Monday, 2/12/2024, at approximately 12:30 pm I responded to the US Post Office located at 8185 Via Ancho Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33433 in unincorporated Palm Beach County in reference to a battery in progress. Upon arrival I met with the victim who advised that he was driving on Via Ancho and turing into the US post office when a white vehicle was tailgating him and passed him on the left and he said he flashed his high beams at him. The victim stated the white vehicle followed him into the post office parking lot and parked right next to him.

At this time, he observed the driver of the vehicle was a white male, approximately 20-30 year old and they had a verbal argument. The victim said he then walked into the post office and got in line. The defendant entered the post office and confronted the victim. The defendant eventually grabbed the victim by his neck. The victim believes the defendant used such force that it lifted him. Witnesses present started yelling at the defendant to let the victim go and one person had to pry the defendants hands away from the victim’s neck. The defendant then fled the post office in a white vehicle bearing a Florida tag #20ASST on Via Ancho Drive. The victim had visible red marks and bruises on both side of his neck.

As I was taking the victim’s statement he observed the defendant’s white vehicle drive back into the post office parking lot. The victim pointed to a white vehicle and I exited the post office | could see the Florida tag attached was 20ASST. I was able to keep a visual on the vehicle and followed it into a gated community. The white vehicle pulled into the community clubhouse located at 8300 Via Serena where made contact with the defendant as he exited the front driver’s side door.

The defendant was detained until the victim in came to the scene and confirmed the defendant was the person who battered him inside the post office. At this time the defendant was placed under arrest and transported to District 7 to process paperwork. Based on my investigation I believe the defendant did actually and intentionally struck the victim against his will and caused great bodily harm by strangling the victim when he put both hands around his neck and restricted the victim’s breathing in violation of Florida State Statute 784.041(1)”

Kirks was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released on $7500 bond.
