BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Angry that a golf ball hit his home, A Boca Raton man allegedly took the golf ball — and a gun — and threatened two golfers on the Anitqua Point Golf Course near Congress and Clint Moore in unincorporated Boca Raton. Kevin Homer of the 17000 block of Antigua Point Way is now facing a gun charge and a mental health hold.
BocaNewsNow.com obtained the arrest report filed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators say this is what happened:
“I made contact with the victim, who stated he was playing golf at the Antiqua Point Golf Course when he was approached by a resident, later identified as Kevin Homer. The victim and his golf partner who witnessed the incident exchanged words with Homer about a golf ball that struck Homer’s house. The victim stated Homer went back into Homer’s residence and came outside towards the victim with a golf ball in his hand, threw the golf ball at the victim, and the victim then saw Homer pointing a black firearm at him.
The victim stated Homer stepped onto golf course property, approached him, and pointed the firearm at him without making any threats to shoot or kill him and then Homer went back into his residence. The victim said he made no threats towards Homer but did exchange insults with him.
The victim’s golf playing partner, Victim 2, was with Bates and witnessed the incident. Victim 2 stated he and Victim 1 exchanged words about a golf ball hitting Homer’s house, Homer then went inside his residence and came back outside. Victim 2 saw Homer throw a golf ball at Victim 1 which missed him, then saw Homer pull a black and silver firearm from Homer’s right pocket and point the firearm at Victim 1.
Post-Miranda Kevin Homer stated he got into an argument with a group of golfers. After the initial confrontation Homer stated he went back inside his residence and retrieved his firearm from his locked safe. Homer stated the firearm was unloaded and he had it in his right pocket. Homer stated he approached Victim 1 in the rear of his residence, stepping off his property onto the golf course property and pointed the firearm at Victim 1. Homer stated he felt Victim 1 was going to come after him with a golf club but stated Victim 1 made no threats with a golf club.
Homer gave consent for deputies to enter his residence and retrieve the firearm from Homer’s safe. I saw the firearm was unloaded inside the safe with a loaded magazine sitting next to it.”
Homer was taken into custody and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on Tuesday. He was later released on $15,000 bond. Homer was ordered by a judge to turn over all firearms in his possession to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Great. Exhibit 5,000,000 about why gun laws are too lax.
Criminals don’t care about laws; that’s why they’re criminals.
This is a very old issue. BUT, why would you buy a home on a golf course if you’re “sensitive” to golf ball impacts? It’s like going for pizza when you hate mozzarella.
