Student On JCC Bus Receives Bomb Threat While Stopped On Turnpike, FHP Investigating

UPDATE: 7:52 p.m. — From FHP:

There was no bomb located during the sweep in Fort Pierce Service Plaza. The group had another charter bus traveling with them that had stopped at the Fort Drum Service

Plaza. Again, the explosive K-9 team was utilized to conduct a sweep on both locations. There was no bomb located at the Fort Drum sweep.

At this time, we have no leads for the threat. Investigations in looking into the source of how the threat was generated with forensics.

UPDATE: 6:03 p.m. — The service plaza at Port St. Lucie is now open, but the Fort Drum service plaza is now closed.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A student on a bus from a Jewish Community Center in North Miami allegedly received a bomb threat while the bus was stopped at a rest stop on the Florida Turnpike. FHP just issued this statement:

Charter Buses were transporting students from Michael Ann Russell Jewish Community Center and temporarily stopped at the rest area located on Turnpike/ MM 145. One of the students approached one of our FHP Troopers and showed a text message reference a bomb threat in one of the charter/school buses.

At this time, they are evacuating the service plaza for the safety of everyone and are also transporting the students to a local school. It is undetermined currently if is a credible threat.

Our Troopers and Law enforcement partners are working diligently to evacuate and confirm credibility of the source.

Mile Marker 145 is in Port St. Lucie.
