BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Packs of teen bicyclists wearing masks have been menacing motorists in and around Boca Raton on Glades Road, on Palmetto Park Road, and across much of the area. BocaNewsNow.com has received scores of complaints about these poorly parented problems, and now the cops have made arrests — after at least one of these problem children allegedly crashed his bicycle into a police car.

BocaNewsNow.com obtained this police report just filed by Boca Raton PD.

“On 3-14-24 at approximately 2220 hours, I observed 5-6 subjects on bicycles traveling eastbound on the roadway at approximately 700 W Palmetto Park Rd. As I observed the subjects riding the bicycles without any lights on them, and approximately 5 of them had black ski masks on. It should be known that the traffic was moderate and the subjects were wearing dark clothing.

While traveling eastbound behind the bicycles, I observed the unknown subjects traveling eastbound in the westbound lane into oncoming traffic. Before turning on my lights and sirens, I ordered one of the subjects (later identified as Michelangelo Villaran) wearing a black ski mask, red fanny pack, all black clothing, to get on the sidewalk and stop his bicycle. The subject appeared to be black or Hispanic male in his early twenties. The subject (Villaran) responded “sorry bro” and proceeded to then traverse westbound in the westbound lane (still with no lights on). I then initiated my lights and sirens in my marked unit and Villaran and 3-5 other subjects proceeded to elude my lawful commands by traveling westbound at approximately 700 W Palmetto Park Rd.

One juvenile male (Santiago Mas-Gomez) stayed behind and contact was made with the male at the initial location of where I initiated the traffic stop. Mas-Gomez informed me that he was riding with his friend “Connor” on their bicycles with a group of unknown males when he observed me turn on my lights and sirens. Mas-Gomez advised he didn’t know why his other friends didn’t stop but informed me that he and the group were riding to Mizner Park to meet up with other bicyclists. I asked to see Mas-Gomez’s contact information for “Connor”, and he agreed to let me look at his phone information regarding “Connor”. “Connor’s” location revealed that he was near Mizner Park and BRPD units were sent to the area.

BRPD Officer’s and the TAC Team then located three subjects riding bicycles (wearing black ski masks) in the middle of the roadway at approximately 300 SW 4th Ave (both were wearing black ski masks and had no lights on the bicycles). A traffic stop was initiated again, and the three subjects again proceeded to evade and resist officers by refusing to stop their bicycles. Ofc Yockel stated: “Police, you’re under arrest right now, stop the bike, you’re under arrest bro”, to which the subjects refused and continued to evade law enforcement. After one of the subjects (Villaran) lost control of his bicycle and collided with a marked unit, Villaran was taken into custody without incident. It must be noted that Villaran was wearing a red fanny pack, a GoPro, and all dark clothing at the time of his detention. A black mask was recovered.

The second subject (Connor) proceeded to then get off of his bicycle after he noticed Villaran was in BRPD custody and then began to obey law commands to get off of his bicycle. Connor was identified as Connor Lee Perry (w/m/j). At this time, it is unknown where the third subject went.

Villaran was read his Miranda Warnings and agreed to speak with me. Villaran admitted that he fled from the initial traffic stop at approximately 700 W Palmetto Park Rd. Villaran admitted to seeing my lights and sirens and knowingly decided to evade my lawful commands. A black mask was recovered.

Perry was read his Juvenile Miranda Warnings and agreed to speak with me. Perry admitted that he fled from the initial stop at approximately 700 W Palmetto Park Rd and knew that I, a law enforcement officer, was giving him lawful commands to stop, which he refused to comply with. A black mask was recovered. Michelangelo Villaran and Connor Perry were both placed into custody without incident. Michelangelo Villaran was charged with F. S.s. 843.02 Resisting without violence and F.S.S.876.12 Wearing a mask, hood, or other device on public roadway. Villaran was taken to PBCJ without incident. Connor Perry was charged with F.s. S. 843.02 Resisting without violence, and F.s.s 876.12 Wearing a mask, hood, or other device on public roadway. Perry was taken to JAC without incident.”

    1. I’m glad to hear that they were caught. I hope they are disciplined appropriately. I do have to wonder if this is the most serious crime
happening in Boca Raton? Are there more serious issues that we’re not hearing about?

  1. Maybe PBC Deputies can follow BRPD…Palmetto Pk and 441 From Ponderosa to the Turnpike is INSANE –between the biclycists, dirt bikers, golf cards (driven by an adult) stuffed with people and no seat belts bouncing along

  2. Thanks BRPD! These brats have been causing chaos for months now. I have had my own encounter with them and can confirm they are an accident waiting to happen. Where are their parents? They deliberately taunt drivers along these busy roads, Glades, 441, Palmetto. Hope you grab the rest of the group and they learn before tragedy strikes. Well done!

  3. I personally am happy this Police Officer took the time & initiative to stop these young boys that do not adhere to the “bike rules” of the road .And wearing black masks, is scary to any of us driving locally here. No lights on their bikes, could easily be accidentally hit, hurt, or killed. Thank you to the Boca Raton P.D. for doing their job.
