A fatal crash Tuesday morning is slowing traffic on I-95 in Boca Raton.

UPDATE AT 8:29 a.m. — Florida Highway Patrol just provided BocaNewsNow.com with crash details. We are publishing the information exactly as received from FHP:

Vehicle 1 (V-1) – 2015 black Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R. Vehicle 2 (V-2) – 2022 white Chrysler Pacifica van 

Persons involved: Driver of Vehicle 1 (D-1) – 26-year-old white male from Boca Raton, Florida (Fatal Injuries; Next of Kin has not been notified).

Driver of Vehicle 2 (D-2) – 39-Year-old white female from Mamaroneck, New York (No injuries).

V-1 was traveling south in lane #3. V-2 was traveling at a high rate of speed in lane #2 behind V-1. D-1 left his lane to the right resulting in a collision. V-1’s front portion collided with V-2’s rear left portion. Post collision, V-1 rotated and came to rest facing north east on the inside shoulder of Interstate 95. D-1 came to rest just ahead of V-1 on the outside shoulder. Post collision V-2 came to a controlled stop facing south on the outside shoulder of Interstate 95.

D-1 was pronounced deceased on scene by Boca Raton Fire Rescue personnel. This is still an ongoing and active investigation.

The crash, identified as a “major, multi-car crash,” led to at least one death. We are awaiting details of the specifics.

As of 4:54 a.m., the Florida Department of Transportation tells BocaNewsNow.com that multiple lanes remain blocked as Florida Highway Patrol continues its investigation. Those investigations can often span twelve hours. Delays could continue through much of the morning.

The Florida Turnpike remains a viable option as does exiting I-95 in the area of Atlantic Avenue, heading south on Powerline or Military Trail, then rejoining I-95 at Glades Road. Check back for updates throughout the morning.
