BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man is dead and the hunt is on for a hit-and-run driver who fled the scene of a crash in the area of State Road 7/U.S. 441 and Sandalfoot Blvd. in Boca Raton around 4 a.m. on Saturday.

Police at this time are not identifying the victim, other than saying he was 65 years old and lived in Boca Raton. PBSO, however, shared this narrative with BocaNewsNow.com. The search is on for a roughly 2008 White GMC Acadia SUV.

“The pedestrian (P-1) was positioned within/or near the northern pedestrian crosswalk at SR7 and Sandalfoot Boulevard, Boca Raton. The driver of Vehicle 1 (D-1) was traveling southbound within the right lane of SR7. During the crash, the left front of Vehicle 1 impacted into the pedestrian. As the crash ensued, P-1 was propelled to the pavement and slid in a southerly direction to his final rest position in the intersection.

The unknown driver of Vehicle 1 failed to stop and fled the crash scene. P-1 was transported to Delray Medical Center where he died at 5:51 a.m., from injuries sustained during this crash.

Vehicle 1 has been identified as an older (around a 2008) white GMC Acadia SUV; however, it has not been located. Anyone with information about the crash or the hit and run vehicle, please contact Investigator Robert Stephan #7240 at PBSO 561-688-3400”
