BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — In another example that should remind homeowners in South Florida that living in a community with a homeowners association means you have to pay the homeowners association, the Canyon Isles HOA is moving forward with a lien of foreclosure against a homeowner in the West Boynton Beach community.

Angelo Calicchio allegedly owes the Canyon Isles HOA $3,764. He’s been in various states of “late payment” for roughly a year. The HOA apparently had enough and is now seeking legal intervention.

Calicchio’s home, at 8956 Briarwood Meadow Lane, is valued at $703,268 according to the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser. He owed $5,086 as of March 31, 2023, but paid $2400 in October after he was warned about missed payments.

The Canyon Isles HOA is represented by Boca Raton Attorney Daniel Wasserstein of Wasserstein, P.A.

Paying HOA fees and dues is not optional in Florida. When purchasing a home in a community governed by a homeowners association, a property owners association, a condo owners association or similar, you are required to pay whatever the association tells you that you are required to pay.
