UPDATE: 6:12 p.m. — Witnesses contacting BocaNewsNow.com suggest the fire is closer to Costco — the scene of this morning’s fire — than the address suggests. Traffic in the area is at a standstill.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The City of Boca Raton just alerted BocaNewsNow.com at 5:50 p.m. Thursday that Congress Avenue is closed at Yamato due to a brush fire. The fire was reported just before 5:40 p.m.

Roads are blocked again Thursday afternoon for another brush fire near Yamato and Congress.

We note this is the second major brush fire that Boca Raton firefighters have battled today. A multi-acre brush fire early Thursday morning led to a multi-hour closure of Congress in the 7400 block. That’s near Costco.

The size of the Thursday afternoon fire was not immediately known. While close to the morning fire, it’s not close enough to be automatically related. Units are still arriving on the scene as of our initial report. Check back throughout Thursday evening for the latest.

Heading west to Military Trail is likely your best option if you were planning to head north or south on Congress in the area of Yamato Road.
