UPDATE AT 4:30 p.m. — Firefighters remain on the scene and traffic remains a problem on Congress between Yamato and Linton.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A brush fire is burning again on Congress Avenue in Boca Raton, but this time it’s part of a controlled burn. Boca Raton Fire Rescue issuing this statement around 1 p.m:
“Boca Fire Rescue units are still at the scene of a brush fire at 7400 Congress Avenue. Currently, teams are conducting backburns to remove underbrush in the area. These controlled burns are causing the current smoke columns. Two lanes for NORTHBOUND Congress Avenue are closed. Traffic will be backed up, so please avoid the area. Thankful for the continued assistance from State of Florida Forestry Division, Palm Beach County Department of Environmental Resources Management, and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Wildland Unit. NOTE: The El Rio Trail remains closed in the affected area until further notice.”
We also note that another brush fire, at 16205 South Military Trail in Delray Beach, was being handled by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue just before 2 p.m. Monday.
