BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Jamie Josue Gomez Escobedo will spend twelve years in prison for the February, 2023 deaths of Arie and Gilda Oberlender. The visitors from North Woodmere, New York were killed when Gomez plowed into them near the intersection of 441 and Kimberly Blvd. in West Boca Raton. Gomez was under the influence at the time of the crash. Gomez just plead guilty to two counts of DUI Manslaughter and “driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury.”
Here is our reporting from shortly after the crash:
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says Jamie Josue Gomez Escobedo crashed his Jeep into a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The Rogue is seen above, overturned. Escobedo, according to police, may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was not injured in the crash that left two people dead and a third critically injured.
According to PBSO, Escobedo was traveling southbound in his Jeep — within the outside lane of US 441 South approaching the intersection of Kimberly Boulevard — when a Nissa Rogue on Kimberly “lawfully attempted to transverse the intersection of US 441 South under a green traffic signal. As the Rogue entered the intersection, Escobedo ran the red traffic signal for southbound traffic and subsequently collided with the Rogue. During the collision, the front of the Jeep violently impacted the passenger side of the Rogue.
“Post impact,” said police, “the Jeep was redirected in a southwesterly direction, while rotating in a clockwise manner before coming to a final rest within the southbound lanes of the intersection of US 441 South and Kimberly Blvd.”

Why WHY does the drunk drug addict driver ALWAYS survive but kill innocent victims?
Kill two people and you only get 12 years. Some joke of a justice system we have.
