DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Delray Beach resident Carol Lane is facing a DUI charge and a charge of careless driving after police say she entered a lane of traffic and struck a car head-on, all while under the influence of alcohol or another substance.
While the arrest report from the May 9th incident continues to be processed Saturday afternoon, citations reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com indicate that Ms. Lane, 75, is accused of causing a crash in the 1900 block of South Ocean Boulevard around 9:20 in the evening. One citation was issued for “DUI — Damage to person or property.” A second was issued for careless driving.
“(Lane) turned into oncoming traffic from a driveway and struck a vehicle head-on.” It was not immediately clear whether there were injuries in the other vehicle that was allegedly struck by Lane.
Lane’s blood alcohol content was not recorded on the citations issued by the Delray Beach Police Department. A court date is pending. She was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail early Friday morning and later released on $1000 bond. She lists the 400 block of Seasage Drive in Delray Beach as her home address.
