Kelly is now facing an enhanced DUI charge.
BocaNewsNow.com obtained the arrest report as filed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office:
“On 5/15/24 at appromimately 0120 hours I observed a black sedan traveling north on 441 at the intersection of Glades rd. My self and other Deputies were on scene of an accident with our emergency lights activated in the right lane. The Black sedan then drove past the marked patrol vehicles wile the red and blue emergency lights were activated at approximately 70 mph in the lane closest to the vehicles. I then left the scene and observed the vehicle continue north on 441 and make a right turn onto New England Blvd.
The vehicle then continued at a high rate of speed as I continued to catch up and then made a right to travel south on Lancaster Pl. The vehicle then made a left and followed the roadway where it made a right onto Hampton Dr. I then started pacing the vehicle with my calibrated marked PBSO patrol vehicle and was able to pace the vehicle at 40 mph in residential a 30 mph zone as the vehicle was driving all over roadway. The vehicle was unable to maintain a single lane as it would travel into the oncomming travel lane.
I then conducted a traffic stop on the black Hyundai Sonata (bearing tag# AROSTH) in front of 19718 Hampton Dr. I then made contact with the driver who was identified as Matthew Kelly by his Fl DI. When I observed Kelly, he had bloodshot eyes, very thick slurred speech. I then smelled the odor of an unknown alchoholic beverage coming from the vehicle when speaking to Kelly. I then asked for DUI unit to respond to the scene.”
Kelly, according to police provided breath samples that yielded .249, .233. And .228. The legal limit in Florida is .08. He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released on $1000 bond. A court date is pending.
