UPDATE: I-95 is still closed as of 8:32 a.m.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — I-95 is closed in Broward County this morning in the area of I-95 and Sunrise Blvd. While this will not affect traffic in Palm Beach County, anyone heading into Broward, Fort Lauderdale airport, or south to Miami should expect major gaper delays.

The incident was first reported shortly after 5 a.m. The helicopter used by South Florida’s First News with Andrew Colton on NewsRadio 610 WIOD shows a body on the interstate and a motorcycle on its side. It was not immediately clear how many other vehicles are involved.

Florida Highway Patrol remains on the scene just after 6:30. It is likely that I-95 will remain closed in the area for several hours. A yellow tarp continues to cover the victim. The medical examiner is not yet on the scene.

The Florida Turnpike and U.S. 441 remain viable — albeit slow — options. Check back for updates throughout the morning. Also check FL511.com for direct updates from the Florida Department of Transportation.
