TRAVEL WATCH: South Florida Airports Okay, But Delays Hitting Parts Of Country Hard

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The South Florida airports of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International, Palm Beach International, and Miami International are experiencing next to no travel turbulence as other airports nationwide are dealing with major delays due to bad weather.

According to FlightAware.com as of mid-day Saturday, there are 2,205 delays involving flights flying within, into, or out of the United States. The cancellation count is 56. United Airlines tops the list of airlines in the United States experiencing delays. It’s logged 217 as of mid-day Sunday.

At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, 64 flights have been delayed with just three cancellations. Spirit, Silver, and Southwest all top the charts for delays at FLL. Frontier is the only airline with canceled flights.

At Palm Beach International Airport, only twelve flights have been delayed. American Airlines leads the back with six delays, Silver logged dive delays, and JetBlue so far has had one delays. No flights have been canceled as of mid-day at PBI.

Miami International has logged 90 flight delays as of mid-day, with just one cancellation. American Airlines, which dominates MIA, is the airline with the most delays Sunday. The carrier reports 64 delays so far. Delta, Air France, Envoy, Latam, Spirit, Southwest, Virgin, United, and Valaris also report delays. Just United reports one canceled flight.

Strong storms in the Midwest continue to affect airlines with a heavy presence in Chicago — including United and American.
