On Thursday, May 30, BSO detectives arrested Rodney Montgomery Jr., following a thorough investigation into a carjacking that occurred on Friday, May 24. According to detectives, early that morning, the 66-year-old U.S. veteran was backing into a driveway in his vehicle that has a disabled veteran license plate attached to it.
Shortly after he pulled into the driveway, an unknown subject approached the victim from the rear of the car and held a handgun to the side of his head. The subject ordered the victim out of the car. Fearing for his life, the victim complied. The carjacker then fled in the victim’s vehicle, which also contained his wallet.
Through the investigation, information was developed that led to 29-year-old Rodney Montgomery Jr. being identified as the suspect. At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, BSO detectives located and arrested Montgomery in Pompano Beach. He was booked into BSO’s Main Jail and faces one count of armed carjacking.
