The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Company in Delray Beach received multiple “high priority” violations when inspected by the State of Florida in June, 2024.

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Popular bagel place “The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Company” at 14451 S. Military Trail in Delray Beach received multiple “high priority” violations during an inspection on June 11th from a health inspector reporting to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. The restaurant was not ordered to close.

High Priority – Raw animal food stored over/not properly separated from ready-to-eat food. At make line flip top raw bacon stored on top of cooked beef, operator moved bacon to proper storage. At grab and go cooler raw smoked salmon stored over ready to eat packaged drinks, operator repositioned salmon to proper storage. At walk in cooler several containers of cream cheese with raw smoked salmon stored over containers of coffee, operator moved cheese to proper storage. Corrected On-Site** **Corrected On-Site**

High Priority – Stop Sale issued due to food not being in a wholesome, sound condition. Stored food not covered. At walk in freezer House made ice coffee cubesnot protected and covered with condensation , see stop sale.

High Priority – Time/temperature control for safety food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. At make line provolone cheese (47F – Cold Holding); Swiss cheese (47F – Cold Holding)per operator items were not prepared or portioned today but kept in overstuffed containers in the walk in cooler and pulled out this morning at 6am. Operator moved top half of each container to the walk in cooler. **Corrective Action Taken** **Repeat Violation** **Admin Complaint**

High Priority – Time/temperature control for safety food identified in the written procedure as a food held using time as a public health control has no time marking and the time removed from temperature control cannot be determined. Container of butter sitting outside cooler with no time mark, per operator product stored for 1 hour, operator time marked. **Corrected On-Site**

High Priority – Employee washed hands with no soap. At prep area observed employee moving trash can with hands and then washed hands with no soap. Spoke to employee who then washed hands correctly. **Corrected On-Site**

High Priority – Dented/rusted cans present. See stop sale. 1 can of white Tuna dented.

Intermediate – Paper towel dispenser at handwash sink not working/unable to dispense paper towels. **Repeat Violation**

Intermediate – Spray bottle containing toxic substance not labeled. At dry storage spray bottle containing degreaser not labeled, operator labeled correctly. **Corrected On-Site**

Basic – Stored food not covered. At walk in freezer House made ice coffee cubesnot protected and covered with condensation , see stop sale.

Basic – Unwashed fruits/vegetables stored with ready-to-eat food. At walk in cooler box of unwashed tomatoes stored over ready to eat cheese, operator moved box of tomatoes to proper storage space. **Corrected On-Site**

The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Company was not ordered to close following the inspection. An unannounced follow-up inspection is now pending.
