BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An E-Biker was allegedly struck by a motorist near Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport. That driver rendered aid but then fled. Cops now want to know who the motorist is. The Broward Sheriff’s Office is asking for tips. Detectives released video here, and the following statement:

Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Airport District are investigating a driver who struck a woman riding an electric bike, helped her up and then drove away. 

Shortly before 9 p.m. on Friday, May 31, deputies in BSO’s Airport District received a call about a person laying in the roadway in the 4500 block of South Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale. BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded. The victim, Margarita Lopez, was transported to an area hospital for treatment. 

According to investigators, the preliminary investigation revealed that a silver SUV was traveling on South Federal Highway when it struck Lopez who was riding an electric bike southbound inside the tunnel. After the impact, the driver stopped, exited the vehicle and assisted Lopez up off of the ground. He placed the bike against the wall and then fled.
