BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The City of Boca Raton wants residents to get ready now for storms that may develop a little later this season. The City is announcing extra bulk and vegetation pickup days for trash customers. We are publishing rules and guidelines, below. Here are the extra collection dates:

Boca Raton Bulk Pickup

Get ahead and plan to trim your trees and clean out your garages, carports and storage areas throughout the month of June.

Sanitation Services will provide extra bulk and vegetation pickup days this year. It is crucial that we prepare now and clean out our homes and properties, so we don’t overwhelm our sanitation systems.

Bulk items are collected from single-family residences once a week. The collection day for bulk items is the same day as your current recycling and vegetation.

Bulk items include:

Furniture Bicycles Televisions White goods such as refrigerators, washers and dryers (please remove doors for safety) Bulk items should be placed a minimum of 5 feet away from other garbage containers or other obstructions.

Utility/Power Line or Obstruction Notice Any items placed under a utility/power line, trees, limbs or any other obstruction will not be collected. Bulk items should be placed a minimum of 5 feet away from trees, utility poles, mailboxes, garbage containers or any other obstacle.

Size Limitations Bulk items larger than 2 cubic yard (equal to a washer and dryer) will require a “Pay for Pickup Option” (see below).

Pay for Pickup Option The City offers a “Pay for Pickup Option” which allows residents to make arrangements for bulk items and vegetation to be picked up on unscheduled collection days. A minimum fee of $145.01 will be charged for items measuring up to 2 cubic yards (e.g., a washer and dryer). Anything over that will require an additional charge of $31.99 per cubic yard.

For more information or to schedule a pickup, please call the Sanitation Department at 561-416-3367.

Please Note: Only acceptable / non-hazardous materials can be picked up using this option.

Recycling Encouraged Residents are encouraged to recycle their old electronics including televisions, computers, monitors, and stereos. Check your local computer store for recycling options, or you can drop them off at any one of the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County’s transfer stations.

Vegetative Waste

Vegetative Collection (Single-family, residential customers)

Vegetation is collected once a week. The collection day for vegetation is the same day as your current recycling day.

Vegetative waste include:

Leaves Grass clippings Small shrubbery or bush cuttings Branches Palm fronds Tree limbs Vegetative waste is included in the curbside services and is collected from the swale area or edge of pavement and must not be mixed with non-vegetative waste or bulk items. Vegetation can be placed curbside, either bundled and/or bagged (not in cans or any other storage bin). To avoid damage, do not place vegetative waste adjacent to a mailbox, utility pole, water/gas meter, on a storm drain, bicycle path, sprinkler head, near/under trees, cable/utility lines, or further than 6 feet from the paved edge of the street. In addition, vegetative waste should be placed a minimum of 5 feet away from other garbage containers.

To avoid damage, please do not place vegetative waste adjacent to a mailbox or utility pole nor a storm drain, water or gas meter, bicycle path, sprinkler head, or farther than 6 feet from the paved edge of the street. Don’t place on your driveway as damage could result from the collection equipment. The City is not responsible for damage or repairs to your driveway or any other property.

Utility/Power Line or Obstruction Notice Any items placed under a utility/power line, tress, limbs, or any other obstruction, will not be collected.

Size Limitation Vegetative waste such as tree trimmings and palm fronds cannot exceed 4 inches in diameter and 5 feet in length.
