BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Boca Raton resident Joseph Zero was likely not a zero when he was arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office early Sunday — at least that’s the claim made in arrest documents logged by the Palm Beach County Jail.
While the affidavit of probable cause continues to be processed mid-day Sunday, the Palm Beach County Jail reports that Zero is facing charges of “DUI — Unlawful Blood Alcohol — DUI Influence of Drugs,” and “DUI — Unlawful Blood Alcohol — Refusal To Submit to DUI Testing.”
We note that merely refusing to prove that your BAC is a zero, even if your name is Zero, is a violation of “implied consent.” You are required under Florida law to provide a blood or breath sample to police if requested. Failure to comply may result in automatic license suspension and other charges.
Zero is being held on more than zero dollars bond. $2,000 bond to be exact. He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, and remained held as of 3 p.m Sunday.
