BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A train on the Brightline tracks in north Broward County struck a vehicle Sunday night. While no injuries were reported, the occupants of the car fled. It was unclear early Monday if the Broward Sheriff’s Office had captured the occupants.

Sources tell BocaNewsNow.com that it happened around 10 p.m. in Pompano beach. Police and fire professionals were called to the scene at Atlantic Boulevard and Dixie Highway. They found a train and a car had collided. While there were no injuries, they apparently learned from witnesses that four people in the car fled the scene.

There was no immediately information as to why the occupants of the car fled the area, whether the car was stolen, or whether anyone in the group was wanted by law enforcement. No one on the train was injured. The investigation continued into the early hours of Monday when the train was released and permitted to continue.

Brightline trains early Monday are generally on time, according to realtime train monitoring provided by Brightline.com. Check back for updates once the incident report is released by the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
