BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Alligator Alley is completely shut down westbound early Friday morning as firefighters are battling a tractor trailer fire. The fire was first reported just after 5 a.m. The closures continue as of 5:40 a.m.
Camera feeds provided by the Florida Department of Transportation and monitored by BocaNewsNow.com show a massive backup that appears to span miles. The official mile marker location is MM41, but the delays start well before that point. Multiple emergency vehicles are on the scene. Road Ranger units are also assisting. There is no ETA as to when the lanes may reopen.

Here is the official alert issued by FDOT: “Vehicle on fire in Broward County on I-75 South, at Mile Marker 41. All lanes closed. Last updated at 05:34 AM. Road Ranger Ahead. Move Over or Slow Down”
We note that while the official direction is I-75 South, the direction of travel for those actually on Alligator Alley is westbound — towards Fort Myers and Naples.
