DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Dylan Brewer, the young Florida man caught on camera defacing the Delray Beach LGBTQ+ Pride Intersection back in February, is set for a case disposition hearing on Monday. Brewer, from Clearwater, will appear by Zoom in front of Circuit Court Judge Daliah Weiss.
Brewer, according to a statement from the Palm Beach County Human Rights Council, has retained anti-LGBTQ+ attorney Anthony Sabitini who the Orlando Sentinel called “the worst person in the Florida Legislature.” Sabitini is described as an anti-gay “MAGA-Republican” who may be trying to use the case for his own political gain. Brewer and his team are using “GiveSendGo” to raise money — it’s described as a Christian crowdfunding website.
As we reported shortly after the alleged crime based on a court filing by prosecutors: “On the evening of Sunday, February 4th, 2024, witnesses reported that Brewer was observed intentionally performing multiple burnouts with his vehicle over the LGBTQ pride crosswalk at the intersection of NE 1st Street and NE 2nd Avenue. The reckless action caused significant damage to the streetscape painting, which serves as a symbol of unity and inclusivity for the LGBTQ community.
Law enforcement actively worked the case for more than a week. We received multiple reports from concerned citizens who witnessed Brewer engaging in these destructive acts. Several witnesses provided smartphone video of the crime. Brewer turned himself in at the Delray Beach Police Department (On February 12, 2024). Upon surrendering, Brewer did not provide a statement to law enforcement. He was taken to the Palm Beach County jail.”
Brewer’s truck displayed a large “Trump” flag at the time of the alleged crime, according to video captured by the City of Delray Beach.
According to retired judge Rand Hoch, President and Founder of the Palm Beach County Human Rights Council (PBCHRC), defacement of the LGBTQ+ Pride Intersection should be considered a hate crime, However, local State Attorney David Aronberg previously determined that since the intersection is owned by a municipality and not an individual, Florida’s hate crime statute does not technically apply.

Making America Hate Again.
In my many years on this planet I have seen that those who are the most homophobic are typically closet cases. I hope this kid can find the strength to come out and stop hating himself.
