MORNING EDITION: Updating List Of What You Need To Know In Palm Beach County, Broward County.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect Thursday morning for all of South Florida. While Hurricane Helene is expected to strike the west coast, or Big Bend, of Florida, the storm is causing disruptions in South Florida. Here’s the early Thursday morning report:
PALM BEACH COUNTY SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED. All Palm Beach County Public Schools are closed Thursday. This includes early care and aftercare, and all afterschool activities including sports. School is expected to resume on Friday.
BROWARD COUNTY SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED. All Broward County Public Schools are closed Thursday. This also includes early care and aftercare, all after school activities, and sports. Broward County says it will evaluate plans for Friday once the local impact of the storm on Thursday is declared.
ST. ANDREW’S, PINE CREST, AND AMERICAN HERITAGE private schools are all closed in Palm Beach County on Thursday. American Heritage is virtual for grades 4-12. No classes are being held for Pine Crest of St. Andrew’s students.
FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY is CLOSED Thursday. “Due to Hurricane Helene, Florida Atlantic University has suspended all classes and operations for Thursday, Sept. 26. Information regarding classes and operations for Friday, Sept. 27 will be shared when available. Students, faculty, and staff should monitor all communication channels, including the University advisory page (www.fau.edu/advisory) for updates.”
PALM BEACH COUNTY COURTS are open. The 15th Circuit announced Wednesday night that court activity will occur as expected. “All Palm Beach County Courthouses will be open on Thursday, September 26 andFriday, September 27, 2024. For updates on openings and closures, attorneys, jurors, and the general public should call the court’s emergency hotline at 561-355-6744 and/or monitor the Circuit’s website: https://15thcircuit.com/.”
PALM TRAN may experience delays Thursday, according to Palm Beach County officials. You are encouraged to check the Palm Tran website for real-time updates throughout the day. PalmTran.org.
ALL BEACHES in Palm Beach County are CLOSED Thursday. According to officials, “All County beaches and beach parks will be closed to include the Juno Beach Pier.”
BOCA RATON TOWN CENTER MALL is expected to be open on Thursday. We have received no word suggesting that it will close, and the Mall’s website indicates it will open at the normal time of 10 a.m.
