BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — It’s been a strange 24 hours in the City of Boca Raton, at least when it comes to vertical objects. We’ll start with an early morning crash involving a woman, a car, and a tree. BocaNewsNow.com has learned that a young woman sustained not insignificant injuries when she apparently drove into a tree in the 5100 block of North Federal Highway around 5:45 Friday morning.
According to sources familiar with the incident, Boca Raton Fire Rescue responded to the scene and found a woman conscious but injured after she apparently lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the tree. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment. While it’s unclear why she drove into the tree, it is not believed that the tree is at fault.
The tree incident follows a somewhat significant traffic incident late Thursday afternoon when a pole fell down onto NE 2nd Avenue. Boca Raton Police reported that the downed pole was between North Federal and North Dixie. Traffic in the area was rerouted for several hours.
The City of Boca Raton then sent this alert around 10 p.m: “NB & SB Dixie open, turn lanes closed WB over tracks NW 2nd St NE 2nd St closed at Federal Hwy WB EB NW 2nd St closed at 1st Ave Detour Palmetto Park or Glades.”
It’s been a difficult few weeks for the City of Boca Raton, with multiple murders, a mall lockdown following a bomb threat that has still not led to an arrest, a strong-arm robbery, a carjacking, and now vertical and traditionally immobile items causing major problems. Be careful out there.
