UPDATE 9:18 a.m. — Sources familiar with the search and rescue operation tell BocaNewsNow.com that two people have been recovered and are apparently fine. The search, however, continues for one person. That in-water search has been ongoing for nearly two hours at the time of this update.
BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A major water rescue operation is underway this morning off Boynton Beach near Gulfstream Park, just south of Woolbright Blvd. Sources tell BocaNewsNow.com that multiple teens were in the water and at least one is missing.
Boynton Beach Fire Rescue was first called for a water rescue around 7:30 this morning. Moments later Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and Delray Beach Fire Rescue were all called to assist. As of 8:20 a.m., nearly 30 rescue units were sent to the scene.
While we are awaiting official confirmation, sources connected with the operation say at least two people have been rescued but a third remains unaccounted for. The teens may have been on jet skis or boogie boards when they got into trouble on the water. Rescuers are searching for the missing teen on Jet Skis, in boats, and from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office helicopter.
