BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A North Broward County man is dead and the search is on for his killer following a fatal ATV crash on West Atlantic Boulevard in Pompano Beach. Alexander Frometa, who our records show was 45 years old, was killed in the Saturday night incident. Here’s what the Broward Sheriff’s Office just shared with BocaNewsNow.com:
“Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a crash involving two all-terrain vehicles (ATV) that left a man dead in Pompano Beach. Investigators are looking for the driver who fled the scene.
Shortly after 7:00 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 9, BSO traffic homicide detectives responded to the 2600 block of West Atlantic Boulevard after receiving a report of a crash involving two ATVs. The crash occurred on a public road and other vehicles involved fled the scene prior to arrival of law enforcement.
The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of an ATV – possibly a Quad – was traveling westbound on West Atlantic Boulevard when the driver made an improper left turn across a curbed grass median directly in the path of a Yamaha Raptor 700 ATV causing the crash. The driver of the Yamaha, Alexander Frometa, was ejected from the ATV.
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported Frometa to Broward Health North where he later died. Investigators say both ATVs involved in the crash were improperly operating on public roads along with other ATVs and dirt bikes.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
