GULF STREAM, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Small, but mighty. That may be the best way to describe the town of Gulf Stream and its police department — using high tech to nab alleged criminals as they enter the town which spans just 537 acres and sits between Delray Beach and Boynton Beach. Early Thursday morning, an officer received an alert that a woman with an active warrant had entered the town. What happened next is documented in the police report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com:

“On 1/14/2024 at approximately 0100 hours, in the Town of Gulf Stream, Palm Beach County, Florida, Officer T. Hawkins was conducting routine traffic patrol in the 3500 block of North Ocean Boulevard, when she received a tag reader notification. The notification showed that a white Mini Cooper, with an expired FL Tag, entered the town and was traveling southbound in the 4800 block of North Ocean Boulevard. Officer Hawkins queried the tag through FCIC/NCIC and observed that the tag expired on 01/22/2024 and the registered owner, Luanne Mueller (W/F, 01/22/1963) had a suspended Florida Driver’s License. Mueller’s last suspension was on 11/12/2024, for Failure to Appear.

Officer Hawkins observed the Mini Cooper traveling south on North Ocean Boulevard, and confirmed that the tag attached was (the tag documented by the cameras), and the registered owner was the operator of the vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted in the 3000 block of North Ocean Boulevard.

Contact was made with the driver, who verbally identified herself as Luanne Mueller. When asked for her Driver’s License, Vehicle Registration, and Proof of Valid Insurance, Muller stated that she did not have a Drivers License and that she did not need one because she “was not driving, but traveling”. While in contact with Mueller, Delray Beach Dispatch advised that Mueller had an active warrant in PALMS, for Traffic Failure to Appear (Warrant* 24 015011 CTAXX).

Officer R. Coppin arrived on scene and Mueller was advised of her Active Warrant, and then asked several times to step out of the vehicle. Mueller refused to exit her vehicle. Officer Hawkins opened the driver door and had to assist Mueller out of the vehicle.

Officer Hawkins grabbed Mueller’s left arm and Mueller then pulled her arm away. Officer Hawkins again grabbed Mueller’s arm and pulled Mueller out of the vehicle and placed a handcuff on her left wrist. Mueller attempted to pull her arm away again. Mueller began to twist her upper body left and right, and attempted to pull away from both Officer Hawkins and Coppin.

Mueller was redirected to the ground, where she continued to actively resist arrest, by tucking her arms under her upper body. Officers gained control of Mueller’s arms and placed handcuffs on her wrists. Mueller was placed in the rear seat of PD765. Mueller complained of knee pain and stated that she could not breath. Deiray Beach Medics responded to the scene to access Mueller’s health. Mueller advised the medics that she no longer wanted their assistance, and needed to see a doctor because she could not breath and her chest was hurting. Officer Hawkins transported Mueller to Delray Medical Center for Medical Clearance. Mueller was later transported to the Palm Beach County Jail.”

Mueller remains in the Palm Beach County Jail Saturday morning on charges of resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license. Bond is set at $4,000. No bond was set for the additional charge of “failure to appear.” When not “traveling,” Mueller lives in the 12000 block of Sand Wedge Drive in Boynton Beach.
