BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — I-95 Northbound is barely moving in Boca Raton as of 5:30 p.m. Friday. The cause: a crash that is now nearly an hour old. We are told the crash is in the northbound express lanes in the area of Yamato Road, but the back-up is now into Broward County. The bottom line: don’t expect to go anywhere quickly on I-95 for a while.

We have no information regarding injuries at this point. We also don’t know how many cars are involved, although it appears to be more than two. The express lanes are somewhat of a misnomer in South Palm Beach County — drivers tend to believe they can drive at any speed they choose, only to find out that the lanes go from two-to-one-to-two with little notice, often leading to crashes.

For now, your best bet is to exit I-95 prior to Palmetto Park Road and use Jog/Powerline to the west to head north, then rejoin I-95 either at Linton Boulevard, Atlantic Avenue, or beyond. The Florida Turnpike does appear to moving at close to speed Friday evening.

We’ll update if there’s anything of note to report. Assume it’s going to be a slow-go through much of the evening rush.
