BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A resident of the senior living community of Century Village Boca Raton is starting Sunday in the Palm Beach County Jail. Michael King of the Preston section of Century Village was taken into custody by the Boca Raton Police Department around 10 p.m. He was booked into jail at 2:20 a.m.

While the affidavit of probable cause continues to be processed Sunday, a citation and jail record reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com document that King, 69, was charged with “driving under the influence.” He was arrested in the 21000 block of St. Andrews Boulevard which is by Town Center Mall, just south of Glades Road.

According to the citation, King’s breath or blood alcohol content was .10, slightly higher than the .08 legal limit. It was not immediately clear what led police to believe that King was driving while under the influence. He was not involved in a crash and there were no injuries to anyone.

King was driving a 2015 Mazda at the time of the traffic stop. His license was immediately suspended and police noted that he is not eligible for a permit — although that will ultimately be determined by a judge. King’s first appearance in court is Sunday. A follow-up court date is pending.

  1. May I suggest that instead of focusing on the arrests of residents in the condo communities in the area, you pay more attention to the vehicle accidents which seem to be happening on a daily basis and pose a very real danger.

There are thousands of residents in these communities, the overwhelming majority of whom obey the law and are never arrested. Highlighting the very few who are arrested unfairly and innacurately reflects negatively on people who have done nothing to deserve it.

PS an arrest does not mean that the party is guilty of any offence. Guilt is determined by a judge and jury.
