BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — If you were sitting on Lyons Road for what seemed like an eternity Tuesday afternoon, we know why. A gas line was ruptured near the Lotus Edge construction site in the area of Lyons and Glades. The road closures — standard when there’s a gas leak — cause major traffic problems. One BocaNewsNow.com reader told us it took almost an hour to get from Glades to Clint Moore.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue confirmed the leak and shared this information with BocaNewsNow.com: “At approximately 3:30 yesterday afternoon, PBCFR Units were dispatched to the area for a reported gas leak.  It was reported that works hit a 4-inch line with an auger. While PBSO worked to route traffic around the area, FPU and PBCFR Special Operations units worked on stopping the leak.

The line was clamped at 4:43.  FPU remained on the scene for permanent repairs.  There were no reported injuries.”

Traffic issues continued into the early evening. Construction on Lotus Edge, the latest GL Homes community on Lyons Road, continues.
