PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Two children are safe and a Lake Worth Beach woman is facing multiple charges after police seeking the children ultimately found them in an apartment occupied by Sarah Free. Free, 33, allegedly lied to police when they first knocked on her door and asked if she knew where the kids were.

An arrest report filed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com shows that police on Saturday were working with the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office to locate two juveniles who ran away. The investigation led to a distant family member with a small apartment on Federal Highway on Lake Worth Beach. That’s where police met with Sarah Free who was staying in the unit. She told investigators that she had no idea where the two kids were.

But that, according to police, was a lie. They were in a back room in the apartment. At least one cell phone had been taken so the kids couldn’t communicate with the outside world. Police left the apartment but, as the investigation continued, came back and again questioned Free. This time, she admitted the kids were in the apartment, hidden in a back room. They were rescued. Free was taken into custody. ]

Police say they didn’t just find the children but also drugs and drug equipment, including crack cocaine and a crack pipe. Free was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on multiple charges, including “sheltering minor(s) and not notifying parents or law enforcement officers.” She was later released on bond. A court date is pending. The children have been reunited with their families.
