A Palm Beach County School District teacher is facing a suspension over political activity.

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A teacher in the Palm Beach County School District is facing a three-day suspension after officials say claims that she took part in political activity on school property were substantiated. The Palm Beach County School Board is expected to ratify the suspension later this month.

Meghan O’Connor, who lives in Royal Palm Beach and teaches science at an undisclosed school, allegedly took part in political activity on the school’s campus. The letter of suspension, obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, outlines the claims made against her and the determination.

“On or about November 6, 2024, you became the subject of an Office of Professional Standards investigation based upon allegations of policy violations related to Allegation 1: Political Activities on School Board Property, Allegation 2: Ethical Misconduct, Allegation 3: Failure to Exercise Best Professional Judgment. At the conclusion of the investigation, the allegations were substantiated.

Therefore, these actions violate the following: Allegation 1: Political Activities on School Board Property Policies 2.59(6)(d)(i), 2.59(6)(d)(iv) Political Activities on School Property, Allegation 2: Ethical Misconduct Policies 3.02(4)(a), 3.02(4)(b), 3.02(4)(d), 3.02(4)(e), 3.02(4)(g), 3.02(4)(i), Code of Ethics, Florida Administrative Code 6A-10.081(1)(b), 6A- 10.081(1)(c), Allegation 3: Failure to Exercise Best Professional Judgment, Florida Administrative Code 6A- 10.081(2)(a)(1), 6A-10.081(2)(a)(5) Sufficient just cause exists for you to be disciplined pursuant to sec. 1012.22(1)(f), Fla. Stat. and sec. 1012.27(5), Fla. Stat.; School Board Policies 2.59(6)(d)(i), 2.59(6)(d)(iv) Political Activities on School Property, 3.02(4)(a), 3.02(4)(b), 3.02(4)(d), 3.02(4)(e), 3.02(4)(g), 3.02(4)(i), Code of Ethics, Florida Administrative Code 6A-10.081 (1)(b) , 6A- 10.081(1)(c), 6A-10.081(2)(a)(1), 6A-10.081(2)(a)(5) for the violations stated above.”

Unless representatives for Ms. O’Connor take action against the school district, her suspension is set to start on January 22nd. It was not immediately clear what alleged political activity Ms. O’Connor is accused of taking part in and whether or not it was for a specific candidate. O’Connor has been employed by the Palm Beach County School District for at least seven years, according to her LinkedIn profile.
