
BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boynton Beach man is dead and his passenger critically injured after police say he was speeding on a bridge and plowed into the vehicle in front of him. Lawrence Begnoche of New Palm Way was 59 years old. He died on Thursday. He was riding a Harley motorcycle.
Accoridng to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Begnoche was traveling westbound, in the outside lane, crossing the bridge on East Blue Heron Boulevard, just west of Phil Foster Park. Police say he was traveling “at a higher rate of speed than the posted 35 mph.” Add police, “for reasons unknown, Begnoche failed to identify” the vehicle ahead of him, and the front of Begnoche’s vehicle struck the left rear of the car. Both Begnoche and his passenger were thrown from the motorcycle. They both came to rest “in the inside lane of travel.”
Begnoche was pronounced dead on the scene and his passenger, Jamie Leach-Cato, was rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center for “serious” injuries.
The vehicle struck by Begnoche is identified as a Nissan Versa driven by a resident of Greenacres. Neither that driver, nor the driver’s passenger, sustained injuries.
