
DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Delray Beach Police Officer was injured Tuesday afternoon after an alleged shoplifter — fleeing in a getaway car — crashed into a patrol car on Military Trail. The City of Delray Beach Police Department issued the following statement to BocaNewsNow.com:
Today at 1:50 p.m., an adult male shoplifted from the Publix at 4771 W. Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach. Upon exiting, he fled to an awaiting vehicle. As the driver attempted to leave the shopping plaza, he collided with a responding police vehicle.
The driver and passenger ran from the vehicle into a nearby neighborhood.
Our officers quickly established a perimeter, resulting in the apprehension of the driver. The passenger remains at large. The officer involved in the collision sustained minor injuries and has been transported to the hospital for evaluation.
