West Palm Beach resident Shannon Atkins allegedly threatened to kill President Donald Trump.

UPDATE at 2:30 p.m. — we now have the images that led to Atkins’ arrest and the official police statement which follows this report:

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A West Palm Beach man is being held Saturday on multiple charges relating to death threats against President Donald Trump. Shannon Atkins is being held in the Palm Beach County Jail. He was taken into custody Friday night. BocaNewsNow.com obtained initial records regarding Atkins’ arrest.

The West Palm Beach Police Department is set to hold a news conference later Saturday. BocaNewsNow.com has learned that Mr. Atkins allegedly made two threats against the President. The threats were taken seriously enough that the office of Palm Beach State Attorney Alicia Cox wrote the following in prosecution documents filed with the Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts.

“Defendant was arrested for a dangerous crime that is a capital felony, a life felony, or a felony of the finst degree, there is a substantial probability that Defendant committed the offense and, based on Defendant’s past and present patterns of behavior, consideration of the criteria in § 903.046, and any other relevant facts, no conditions of release or bail will reasonably protect the community from risk of physical harm, ensure the presence of Defendant at trial, or assure the integrity of the judicial process. Indeed, under these circumstances, “the court must order pretrial detention.” Fla. Stat, § 907.041 (S)(d).”

A judge assigned to hear the probable cause motion filed by police specifically ordered that Mr. Atkins is to have “No contact with President Trump,” and “No Contact With President Trump’s Family.” The judge also ordered Mr. Atkins to have “no electronic communication devices that can access the internet.”

Records indicate that Mr. Atkins works or worked in the food industry. It was not immediately clear if he had any direct contact with President Trump at the nearby Mar-A-Lago resort or any other activity in Palm Beach County. Atkins is being held without bond on charges of “intimidation — threaten to kill (or) bodily harm another,” drug possession, and “smuggle contraband and/or a controlled substance into a county detention facility.”

We expected additional details later Saturday afternoon. Check BocaNewsNow.com for updates. Atkins home address is listed as an apartment on Evernia Street in West Palm Beach.

A man who made threats against the President of the United States on social media was arrested Friday night by West Palm Beach police.

A tip to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Threat Operations Center from a man in Okeechobee, FL, reporting threats against President Trump led detectives to the source of the violent posts. On January 20, a West Palm Beach Police Department detective assigned to the FBI Task Force began the investigation that led to Shannon Depararro Atkins, 46, of 650 Pacific Grove Dr. #6, West Palm Beach. As the investigation progressed, Atkins was being watched by detectives and arrested Friday night after a traffic stop. Just before 7:30 p.m. January 24, 2025, Atkins was pulled over near his home in the 400 block of Pacific Grove Drive driving a white 2013 BMW 750Li. Atkins had cocaine on him when he was arrested, and was also charged with possession of cocaine.

During the interview with detectives, Atkins admitted making the posts. He was taken to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Main Detention Center where he faces one count of written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism, a second-degree felony. West Palm Beach detectives notified the U.S. Secret Service, who will determine if Atkins will face any federal charges. <<<

      1. Matt, I understand in the FOX bubble that the insurrectionists were merely law-abiding and well-behaved tourists going for a tour of the Capital, but the video evidence says otherwise. I’m not forgiving Atkins, but it is disingenuous to forgive the insurrectionists. Oh wait – Trump already forgave them.

    1. The protests on January 6, of an obviously questionable election, were peaceful until the police, without warning and for no reason, attacked the people with rubber bullets, tear gas, and flash bang grenades. One man died of a heart attack, one man died of a stroke, one woman was shot and killed trying to stop rioters from breaking windows, and one woman was beaten to death by police. The protestors fought back against the attack and some went too far. Some in the crowd were instigators affiliated with the FBI and antifa. Try as you might wish, nothing on this day comes close to the death and destruction caused by the BLM/antifa summer of love riots.

    1. Well this didn’t make the national news yet. Clearly he was not thinking clearly. Firstly, Kennedy was a Democrat. And King, may have been a Democrat as well. This man is going to spend a lot of time in jail. People don’t realize that threatening a President OR robbing a bank gets more jail time than murder. And a decent person will want our President to stay safe no matter what party he is. No matter what we disagree upon. We only get to have our choice of President about half the time. Best to keep political comments off social media. And pray for whomever is in office.

  1. How about the many times Trump made threats against Biden and Obama? Or when he made threats about walking out and shooting people in NY? Or the insurrection he incited? He pardoned all those people what makes this any different? Don’t get me wrong all of it is wrong and punishable but seriously? I’ve seen worse than that on social media. Stalking a man and then pulling him over. 🙄
