And What’s Up With The Bizarre Salute In Fresh Market Boca Raton?

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Delray Medical Center is the area’s trauma center. If you’re in bad shape, odds are pretty good that medics are going to rush you to Delray Medical Center where, at least in theory, professionals are highly trained, highly skilled, and one would assume highly concerned about being sanitized. Which is why it is so astonishing that the first photo in this week’s Boca Rudeton is from a tipster who thought something seemed weird about a dog in Delray Medical Center. Not just the fact that the dog has red hair, and its apparent owner has red hair, but that the dog is in a Subway in the hospital and no one in management said anything. We wonder what color the violation might be if the Florida Agency of Healthcare Administration were to get involved with pets being in a food service facility inside a trauma center. Might the agent’s name be Sam O’Nella?

We move on now to Fresh Market at Yamato and Military. That’s where we see a woman with a bizarre hand and arm gesture — reminiscent of something a notable dictator was known for — seemingly enjoying the company of a man and his dog. Our tipster wants to know why that dog is in Fresh Market considering dogs are prohibited from supermarkets unless they are trained to provide a lifesaving function. Maybe this dog is truly a pint sized lifesaver. Or maybe it’s just a dog that’s not supposed to be in a supermarket. Until we know, we ask what the Heil?

Off now to Publix at 133 North Congress Avenue in Boynton Beach, where this man oddly walked by the signs hanging at every Publix saying that no pets are allowed, apparently carrying his pet. We’re sure the pet is thrilled that it seems to be getting a gift. But we think shoppers would be thrilled if the man either purchased it online and had it shipped, or just stayed home altogether. Publix couldn’t make it more clear: under Florida law and federal statutes, you can’t bring your pet into the store.

And the problem is also a problem at Whole Foods on Glades Road in Boca Raton. That’s where we find a woman holding her dog as she stands in the frozen food section of the supermarket. While this is certainly one way to make sure you don’t have a hot dog (sorry, we had to), it’s also not permitted. Dogs are not supposed to be where you buy fresh food that is often out in the open. We don’t know why this woman has the dog in the store. Our tipster didn’t, either.

At Maggie McFly’s at Boca Raton Town Center Mall, the question was simple: why does this guy have his dog at booth — where people sit to eat food — in the restaurant that is designed for humans? We agree that it’s gross, disgusting, and shouldn’t be permitted. We also wonder if the Florida Department of Health for Palm Beach County might pay Maggie McFly’s a visit to remind management that animals aren’t allowed in restaurants. We’ll let you know if that happens.
So who is our winner this week? It’s none other than the woman giving a bizarrely German World War Two salute as a shopper in Fresh Market Boca Raton apparently asks why the dog is in the store. While we don’t actually give prizes, she, and the guy with the dog (and we have no idea if the two are related) would win a very special edition of our upcoming guidebook: “inappropriate salutes and when not to use them.” Look for it wherever you purchase your reading material. To the two winners: Congrats! We salute you!

WHY Is this illegal behavior still happening? There seems to be an endless supply of self centered people in the Boca/Delray area. I doubt the animals think its fun to be toted around like parcels. These people need a reality check and fast.
What these stores don’t realize is that many of us that see these pictures will never shop in their store again because it’s DISGUSTING!!!
Oh Doris. That’s a given. No chance of me shopping there. Store managers needs to grow some ball$ and start enforcing the local laws by escorting people out. I’d be happy to do that for them, if they’d like.
Agreed Doris! No chance of me shopping there. Store managers need to grow some ball$ and start enforcing the local laws by escorting people out. I’d be happy to do that for them, if they’d like.
Why aren’t complaints filed with the County Health Department against all these stores for allowing these violations in their stores. If they were fined for not enforcing the law in their stores this nonsense would stop.
The only thing that will stop this is issuing fines for both the store and the pet-owner.
The dogs are probably housebroken.
Their handlers , not so much.
I remember years ago, I used to go to a place with my bird on my shoulder. Bandit got a lot of attention. Eventually a manager told me it wasn’t allowed, so the days of Bandit going with us was over. I didn’t get mad and I understood the issue. These people need to be told that they can’t bring their dogs into places that have food. These managers need to do their jobs. Why they choose not to do this, I just don’t know.
